Apple iTunes 6 burns virtual CDs very slowly.

The burning of a virtual CD in iTunes only works in 1x speed.

To support the normal burning speed in iTunes you need the updated version of the driver:

  • Rename the driver vdrv8000.sys in C:\Windows\System32\drivers.
  • Store the new driver there:
    • 32-bit driver (For Windows 2000 and XP)
    • 64-bit driver (Please observe that the 64 bit driver can only be used on the 64 bit version of Windows XP!)
  • After restarting the computer the new driver is available.

Note:
This driver has not been certified by Microsoft because the iTunes support was implemented only after the certification. The only difference between this new driver and the certified driver is this feature. Otherwise they are identical!

The problem has been solved with version 8.0.0.3.

Hint:
An Error 4000 with iTunes when burning a virtual CD should be solved after a reboot.
