iTunes Burns to VCD VERY Slowly

Installed iTunes 6 then Virtual CD V8. I want to burn purchased iTunes music to audio VCD then rip from audio VCD to MP3. Rip works OK but burn is VERY slow. Burns to real CD-RW in 5 minutes, VCD in 1 hour (est)

We changed the driver to speed up the writing in iTunes:

  • Please rename the driver vdrv8000.sys in C:\Windows\System32\drivers.
  • Safe the new driver in the same folder: 32bit driver | 64bit driver
  • After a reboot the new driver is available.
Any report back would be highly appreciated as we would like to provide this driver with the next update.

Test of new 32-bit driver

New 32-bit driver (64-bit made VDC hang, so I must have 32-bit Win) much faster but iTunes cancels the burn after a short time; <1 track. iTunes 6.0.4.2, CD driver 2.0.4.3, CD Driver DLL 2.0.3.2, error message "The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4850)"

If you need more info, let me know; I know several iTunes folks that are interested in your product.

Create VCD from commercial CD + rip VCD tested w/MediaMonkey and EZ CD DA; works great.

New driver

We found out that iTunes may make mistakes when burning. We managed to work around these problems. You can download the newest driver here: 32bit driver | 64bit driver. Please be aware that the 64bit driver is for 64bit Windows only!
If you still have problems, please let us know which kind of CD you try to burn, audio, mp3 or data CD.
Any report back would be highly appreciated!

iTunes and VCD

The latest driver works great! I can burn an iTunes CD in 1.5 min and it rips in EZ CD DA VERY fast! This is a great time saver for those using iTunes. If I were a software tester I'd say, "Pass." When is your next release? I'd like to post your solution on the iTunes-related BBS so others can use it. Thanks for finding a solution so quickly.

New Driver and iTunes 7.0.2

Hi,

Firstly thanks for this great application.
I tryed it for the same use as Denis, but the new Driver doesn't work with iTunes 7.0.2. The same error message appears after few seconds. Can you Help ?

Thanks in advance.
Steph.

iTunes 7.0.2

Hi Steph,

Did you try it with the recent driver from Virtual CD 8.0.0.6? This driver has at least the same functionality as the (older) driver from the knowledge base.

Let me know if the recent Virtual CD driver also is affected. In this case I'll have to do some testing with iTunes 7.

Thanks you!
