Setup error -5006: 0x80070002 during Virtual CD installation
The installation aborts during the initialisation with the error -5006: 0x80070002.
This problem indicates that a previous setup (or a deinstallation) was not correctly completed. Probably there are still leftover files in the temp directory that normally would have been deleted if the setup had been correctly completed.
Possible solutions:
Deletion of the contents of the temporary directories. Disadvantage: Some setups store files that are necessary for deinstallation. If these are deleted, then the corresponding program can no longer be deinstalled.
Installation under a different administrative account - provided that %temp% refers to a different path. As of Windows 2000 %temp% is in the user profile by default.
When calling the setup, determine a different directory as the "extraction target" using the parameter /extract_all:path, e.g. VCD7102EG.exe /extract_all:C:\Temp (please note that this folder must exist!).
This problem lies in the InstallShield. A similar problem is described in KB-Article 1583. For Virtual CD v4 there is a separate KB-Article .
