If you're running Virtual CD NMS v6/v7 you can update to Virtual CD NMS v9 without deinstallation of the older version.
The update of Virtual CD NMS to version 9 can be done as follows:
Install Virtual CD NMS v9. During the installation of the system components of NMS the installer will recognize that there is a previous version of NMS installed. The installer will prompt you to choose whether to take over the existing data.
Then the Virtual CD NMS v6/v7 service will be stopped and set to manual start.
After the installation please delete the old data share from Virtual CD NMS v6/v7 and share the new data folder of Virtual CD NMS v9 (set full access for Everyone!).
After the first start of the Virtual CD NMS v9 Administration the data for accessing the NMS service are to be entered.
All stations which connected to Virtual CD NMS v6/v7 are now automatically connected to Virtual CD NMS v9 assumed the same connection port is used.
As soon as you're sure that your system is running with the new version of NMS without any problems you should uninstall the previous version. Please be aware that Virtual CD NMS version 6/7 and version 9 are not compatible, i.e. the NMS Administration v6/v7 will not work together with the NMS v9 service. Note (pertains to version 9.0 only): Please export the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\H+H Software GmbH\VCD Network Management Server\License BEFORE the deinstallation. All Virtual CD NMS versions manage the Virtual CD license keys in this key. Thus this key will be deleted by the deinstallation of Virtual CD NMS v6/v7. The REG file will allow you to restore the key afterwards. As of version 9.2 the licenses are stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\H+H Software GmbH\VCD Network Management v9 in order to avoid this problem!
