Problem: When you play a virtual audio CD, you do not hear the music that is on the CD, but rather only strange noises; or the CD plays one second of each song.
When you adjust the settings for audio tracks, Virtual CD gives you the choice of writing the tracks as data files or as individual sound files.
If you have problems with a virtual audio CD, the first thing you need to do is determine which type of audio tracks are on the virtual CD. The easiest way to do this is to check the virtual CD in the Detail View of the Virtual CD Management program.
Generally make sure that the settings for the virtual drive and your audio player correspond with those used when the virtual CD was created (analog or digital).
Problems playing audio tracks stored as data files (digital tracks)
Symptom: Once you insert the virtual audio CD in a virtual CD drive and the music player starts, the following error messages are output by the Virtual CD Player (which passes the music to your CD player):
"The virtual CD in drive (...) does not support playing audio tracks in analog mode."
There are two possible solutions for the problem, depending on which CD player you use:
Some CD players cannot directly read and play back audio data, regardless of their device settings. For these players, the virtual music CD must be made using individual sound files rather than data files.
Problems playing audio tracks stored as sound files (analog tracks)
Symptom: The music player apparently starts when you insert the virtual CD, but no sound is produced. There are two possible solutions for the problem, depending on the CD player you use:
Notes
Support for digital playback varies from one operating system to the next. In particular, it is not highly developed under Windows 98. For this reason, we recommend using sound files (analog recording) when making virtual audio CDs under Windows 98.
We recommend you to not mix analog and digital virtual audio CDs.
The Windows Media Player resets the option for digital playback (deactivates it) automatically. Thus every time you want to play an audio CD with digital music tracks, you have to set this option again yourself.
