Working with Large Number of Images

If you have a very large number of images, you may find that some programs respond very slowly. This is because all images are read before one is selected. You can configure settings for the Quick Start utility (System page) and the Explorer extension (Explorer Integration page) so that they no longer read in virtual CD data; this can accelerate these programs considerably, in proportion to the number of images.

Virtual CD can manage up to 5000 images per configuration file. It is very rare that such a number is reached, but just a few hundred are enough to slow down some of the processes. One way to lighten the load on the programs is to divide the images among several configuration files; then you can use the Virtual CD API to create scripts that implement the global configuration path as needed.
