VCD & Client Setup

Hello,

We have VCD Version 10 and NMS.

I’ve upgraded VCD on my management computer from V10.5.0.1 to V10.7.0.0.

However, ‘Client Setup’ is still creating files of V10.5.0.1 to distribute to my network clients. How can I force ‘Client Setup’ to create setup files of V10.7.0.0 to distribute using NMS?

Thank you in advance.

Client setup

You have to recreate the client setup. Please note that this requires a full installation of Virtual CD 10.7, as the update setup does not update the client setup files!

How can I create a Client Setup with Virtual CD?

VCD & Client Setup

Hello,

Thank you for the useful information.

I reinstalled VCD on my Windows 7 (64-bit) computer using the full installer and have now been able to create a ‘Client Setup’ of V10.7.0.0.

I’ve done a ‘Check’ on a network Windows 7 (32-bit) PC using ‘Virtual CD Client Distributor’ which completes successfully (green arrow). However, an error occurs during the ‘Install’ part and below is the content of the VCDDeploy Log.

“Error while copying files. Operating system message: The system cannot find the path specified.”

Do you have any ideas how I can resolve this?

The system cannot find the path specified.

Maybe the KB article below solves your problem:

Which user rights are required for using the Virtual CD Client Distributor?

VCD & Client Setup

Windows Firewall is disabled on the remote machine.

Our previous ‘Client Setup’ (V10.5.0.1) distributed and installed successfully without the error.

My user account that I’m using for distribution is a member of the ‘Domain Admins’ Active Directory security group and I can access the admin$ share of the receiving computer remotely.

‘Client Setup’ (V10.7.0.0) continues to fail.

Do you have any other suggestions?

ISS files

We tested this and did not encounter any problems with a client setup updated from 10.5 to 10.7.

However also the ISS files in the installation directory of Virtual CD NMS (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Virtual CD v10\System\Setup\Client\Install resp. Update) are to be updated.

ISS Files

Thank you for your response above which contained a very useful clue.

The installation directory of ‘Virtual CD NMS’ (i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Virtual CD v10\System\Setup\Client\) was somehow missing three folders (deinstall, install and update) which has clearly been stopping distribution from working properly.

I did a ‘Repair’ on the NMS installation on my computer which restored the three folders above (each folder containing ‘setup.iss’) and all is now working.
