The Virtual CD support forum

running an auto-run from a virtual CD

I am using VirtualCD to run an old program on a machine without a CD drive. The program relies on a copy to be in the CD drive to run. It allows me to make an image of the CD and place it in the virtual drive, however, when I click on the virtual drive and select "Execute the CD's auto play feature . . ." it gives an error and says that the system registry cannot be accessed. I am running an up to date version of Windows 10. Please advise me as to what steps I need to take to correct. I wanted to make sure this would work with the Demo before purchasing.

Error Accessing the System Registry

This problem is so far unknown to me. Can you access the virtual CD drive at all and start the setup manually?

Response to questions

Yes, it does let me install the program from the virtual drive manually, but when I try to run the program it gives the same error, "System Registry Cannot Be Accessed" and then "Unexpected Error; quitting" this occurs when the program attempts to look at the virtual cd.

System Registry Cannot Be Accessed

The error messages seem to be connected to VBA. I presume that they will occur with the physical source, too. Auto-run does not distinguish between physical and virtual CD-ROM/DVD drives.
