VCD8 Removed CDROM / CDRW Driver

Installation of VCD8 removed my CDROM/CDRW driver on my Latitude D400. The Latitude D400 uses an external CD drive. I did not have the CD drive connected during the install of VCD8. My attempts to reinstall the driver for the external CD have failed. The system is unable to identify the new CD hardware. Attempts to manually install the CD driver have also failed. I did not anticipate the removal of this driver when I installed VCD8. Please provide guidance on how to undo the removal of this driver.

Hello,

We need more information to pinpoint the problem:

When you try to manually install the CD driver: What is the exact wording of the error message?

Second please send us the complete diagnostics including Installation log(Right-click on Virtual CD icon in the SysTray of the task bar -> Virtual CD programs -> Show diagnostics -> Options… Check "Installation log" -> "OK" -> "Refresh"). Simply "Copy & paste" the result into a new answer.

Kind regards

Hello,
It sounds like a driver problem in Windows.
Please install as first ServicePack4 for WindowsXP.
Next check if the drive appears in Disk Management.
Click the right mouse button on My Computer => Management => Disk Management
