The Virtual CD support forum

Answers:

Internal Index Error (Virtual CD Error Code 1000)

I have perused the Support Forum entries for this error and none seem to fit my situation.

We have the images stored on a server running NMS 10. When I try to insert any CD on a Windows 7 (Professional) PC I get the error above. The same CD's load perfectly on PC's running Vista (Business).

The Virtual CD version is also 10. I am trying to load the CD's manually on the Windows 7 PC, not with a script.

I will appreciate any suggestion to try to solve the problem.

Error Code 1000

Hello Michael,
The KB-Article below will help you to solve the Problem.
I think point 3 is the cause.

Error on inserting a virtual CD using a script: Error Code: 29, 1000 or -1

Internal Index Error (Virtual CD Error Code 1000)

I have revisited your suggestion of the KB article and it doesn't help at all! I had tried the suggestions prior to requesting help.

I have now rebuilt a PC with a clean install of Windows 7 Professional without the machine being connected to our network. I then installed Virtual CD 10.1.0.7, not changing any of installation settings. I added a virtual drive, created a virtual CD and when I tried to load it the error occured again!

Just to rule out your previous suggestion, using Wordpad I saved a file into the default folder, read it and deleted it.

I believe the above rules out the NMS server and network permissions, which was never the case as our XP Professional and Vista Business PC's all work as expected.

Error Code 1000

Please create the "VCDImg.dat" new.
Rename the old VCDImg.dat and add the CDs again to the Virtual CD Control Center.

The message says that the virtual CDs can not be found. Do you have renamed the CDfolder or changed the driveletters?
