V10 Install error screen

Version 10 fails installation after apparently completing all the installation steps. However no files are left in C:\Program Firls\Virtual CD.

It exits with a small window which I would send a screen capture of if I could, but have summarized below.

The error screen reads:

Feature: NewFeature1
Component: Desktop Shortcut
File:
Error: Access is Denied

I am logged in as the administrator of the computer and can create desktop shortcuts to other programs.

Please provide some advice on this.

Thank you.

V10 Install error screen

Dear Mr Wolter,

Could you please run these steps:
- Deinstallation of Virtual CD v10
- Reboot of you PC
- Installation of Virtual CD v10 using Setup type 'Custom'
- In the second page of installation wizard click 'Settings...' > 'Functions
- Make sure 'Create a desktop shortcut' and 'Create a link in the Start menu' are unchecked

Now the installation should be successfull. If you want please create a desktop shortcut and/or a link in the Start menu manually. It is
C:\Program Files\Virtual CD v10\System\vc10start.exe

Please keep us informed if this solves the problem.

Best regards

V10 Install Error Screen

The proposed solution below did not work. I still get the same error window which appears at the very end of the install (using the progress bar indicator as a way to measure where in the install process the error occurs).

Additionally, i cannot do an uninstall of VCDv10 because it does not ever completely install. I have uninstalled V7 which was my previous version. There is no program group for VCDv10 nor does it appear in the installed software list in Windows.

Also, during the VCDv10 install when i choose the custom->settings->functions option the options to create desktop shortcut and start menu link are unchecked to begin with. I had tried that before as i searched for possible ways around the install problem.

And I am logged in as a computer administrator to do the VCDv10 install.

My gut feeling is that there are still registry entries which need to be removed before a clean install can take place. Need an answer quickly or i must go back to version 7!!

V10 Install error screen

Dear Mr Wolter,

Could you please use the uninstaller provided in the knowledgebase article below to deinstall Virtual CD v10? Afterwards please follow the steps given in my first answer.

Best regards

The deinstallation of Virtual CD v6 or higher fails.
