Virtual CD 10.1.0.7 question

Hello

I am using Virtual CD on Windows 7 x64 to debug a Cd burner application, specifically, audio with CD-Text.

This version of Virtual CD does not appear to give a listing of device write speeds when sent an MMC-3 mode sense command (op-code 0x2A). I can understand why given it is an emulator but it might be good for conformity.

Also there seems to be no simple way to ascertain the VCD version number?

Many thanks - great product.

Jerry

Virtual CD 10.1.0.7 question

Hello Jerry,

Thanks for your e-mail.
First, just right-click on Virtual CD icon in the SysTray of the task bar and on the top of the Quick start utility the current version of Virtual CD is
announced.

Well, I'm not quite sure what command(s) you are using to get the write speeds.
Op-code 0x2A is Write(10) command. You should try op-code 0x5A which is Mode Sense(10).
In general I think you should not use VCD as a debugging aid. VCD in fact assumes that the writer software does it right and does not do intensive checks for correct operations and commands.

Best regards

Thanks

Hello Martin, thanks for the info.

Yes the 0x2A is a typo. It is mode sense 0x5A.
