Answers:

dll not registered

I just bought and downloaded virtual cd v9 and while installing this i get a self-registration error saying

The following files did not self-register or unregister:

1. C:\Program Files\Virtual CD v9\System\vc9api.dll
The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

This also happens when I uninstall or repair it.
This only happens on my win xp machine, and installed just fine on my Vista machine.

Register

First of all please make sure that the DLL is existing in C:\Program Files\Virtual CD v9\System. Then please try to register the Api DLL manually with administrative rights: Click on Start -> Run and type "regsvr32.exe C:\Program Files\Virtual CD v9\System\vc9api.dll". Please report the exact error message if the registering fails again.

If you additionally receive Side-by-Side error messages, this may point to a problem that is not due to Virtual CD but due to a lack of certain Microsoft DLLs. The problem may be solved by the installation of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86). Then try to register the Api DLL again.

Any report back is highly appreciated!

The following files did not self-register or unregister: vc9api.dll

Hello,

I am unable to successfully install VCD.
After installing VCD, the vc9api.dll is in the installation folder. Then, I tried to register the file but receive a following message: "..vc9api.dll failed to load ... the reference assembly is not installed on your system." I also have Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86) installed and this does not help at all. In addition, I would like to uninstall VCD using Microsoft uninstall utility but the utility does not list the VCD despite the fact that the installation folder of VCD still exists.

Please suggest any help

Thanks

Dear Mr Piotrowski,

You do not write why you have tried to register vc9api.dll?

Second: The knowledgebase article below helps to uninstall Virtual CD.

The following files did not self-register or unregister: vc9api.dll. As e result, Vcd does not work. Need Help!

Thanks

The following files did not self-register or unregister: vc9api.dll

Dear Mr Piotrowski,

Thank you, now I got it. We need more information to pinpoint the problem because we are assuming at least one file or component is missing.

Could you please open 1. vc9api.dll and 2. vc9play.exe in Dependeny Walker.

If you don't have this tool it is free and can be downloaded here here.

Please unzip the downloaded file and launch depends.exe.
1. Open vc9api.dll using 'File' > 'Open' > vc9api.dll (vc9api.dll can be found in [Path_to_Virtual CD v9]\system). Does Dependeny Walker show missing files? Maybe it is easier for you sending screenshots to vcdtechsupport@hh-software.com.

2. Open vc9play.exe using 'File' > 'Open' > vc9play.exe (vc9play.exe can be found in [Path_to_Virtual CD v9]\system). Again please send screenshots to vcdtechsupport@hh-software.com.

Thanks for your help.
Best regards

self-registration error with VCD 10

I wanted to try VCD 10
and when I install the software I get this error:
The following files did not self-register or unregister: 1. C:\Program Files\Virtual CD v10\System\vc10api.dll The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.
I saw here that you had this problem since 19.05.2007 and if you can't solve this with the new versions why should I bother to buy it.

self-registration error with VCD 10

This problem is not due to Virtual CD at all or to the setup, but derives from a rare problem with the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package.

If you install it from the Microsoft downlaod area and then reinstall Virtual CD, the API should be registered. Please note that Virtual CD v10 uses the MS Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package!
